About the Department of Management
Providing practical education to survive in a tumultuous business society
The Department of Business Administration and Information Science undertakes education to answers the needs of our times, using computers to implement theory and technology in the fields of business administration and management engineering. Extensive knowledge related to business administration and business management is of course fundamental. However, at the same time as having a thorough knowledge of the substance and the meaning of information in an organization, students must possess an excellent knowledge and command of computer technology. This department cultivates graduates who have moved from 'business people who can use computers efficiently' to 'information management engineers who have mastered business administration knowledge'.
Clarifying the targets while raising students through the education system
Students will begin in this department with a study in a foundation of areas: management, economy, law, bookkeeping, accounting, and computers. Next, three special areas related to the course of study will be deeply investigated: "business management", which focuses on topics related to the work of small and medium enterprise management consultants and entrepreneurs; "business law", in which the focus will be on preparing students with the knowledge to respond to a business litigation environment similar to that of the United States, which is likely to arrive in Japan soon, and; "general management", which includes topics of importance required for the business leaders of tomorrow. All of these courses are offered to students in small groups in a seminar setting.
A sense of purpose is built into the curriculum in that it aims to correspond to the qualifications that will be required of leaders in the business world Bookkeeping, information processing, and business education are just some of the various qualifications which students can gain. At the same time, students will be encouraged from the time they enter the department to act independently and to develop their individual character.
Thorough computer education — Every student has a notebook PC
Every student in this department is instructed in knowledge of computers and computer technology. In order to correspond the progress of a highly informative society, every student has a notebook PC. Both the high-quality instruction of Chubu University and the newest computer equipment are being utilized, and Chubu University has been offering courses in computer education for over 30 years. Students will become more computer literate by taking courses in document processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and the internet. The focus will be made to cultivate students capable of advanced information collection and processing, skills which are indispensable to those members of society who desire to survive in the changes that will take place in the future.
