Computer Science

Information Science and Technology is rapidly increasing its width and depth and having an increasingly important position in a fast growing highly information-oriented society.
Although Japan should take international activities suitable to a member of advanced countries, we are presently in a great want of advanced technicians and researchers in this field to do so. This graduate course (computer science) gives a good opportunity to study for students who wish to acquire deeper knowledge within the fields and undertake innovative and technologically advanced research, and aims at developing talented people who will directly concern the development of information science and technology or who will be leaders in it.
Students in this course can develop more flexible ways of thinking with creativity, as well as professional knowledge in their own special field, and are expected to be advanced and active technicians or researchers with global perspective in the future.
This graduate course consists of three chairs: communication engineering, image recognition, and computational engineering. Each chair includes 4 or 5 professor's laboratories. A student belongs to any professor's laboratory in any chair and studies on his research theme which his laboratory can cover. The curriculum recommends taking subjects of other chairs, as well as subjects of the chair which a student belongs to. Students can also participate in lectures of other majors.
Research activities of 14 professors in this graduate course for staying at the leading-edge of the fast growing computer science field include frequent conference presentations and publications in scientific journals in information technology or related fields.
There are master course and doctor course in this graduate course. People who have finished the graduate course, are supposed to find their positions in companies, institutes of higher education, or research organizations in information science and technology field or related fields, and also uncountable companies or organizations in other fields.
