Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Our comfortable standard of living is significantly dependent on electrical and electronic engineering. Electrical and electronic engineering have given a profound impact to our daily lives. The Graduate School of Engineering conducted by the doctoral program are contributing to the promote of skilful engineers who are able to master the deeper engineerings beyond undergraduate work. In our major researches, there are six courses which are key to the development of electrical and electronic engineerings. Famous professors with high academic achievement directly educate the graduate students, study together, and lead them according to the research program necessary to develop their abilities in R & D (Research and Development). The major aim is to foster reliable engineers through R & D with their professors.
Electric Power Engineering
Research on insulation strength and long-term aging performance of new insulators, such as polymer and semi conducting glaze insulators, under various weather and environmental conditions; Research on high frequency glow discharge and its application to plasma processing; Research on discharge phenomena of lightning triggered by rockets; Development of lightning measurement techniques; Research on super conducting electric power devices, and energy conversion by using thermoelectric effect in magnetic field.
Electric Machine Engineering
Conversion and control of electrical energy; Application of Tensor to analysis of rotating electrical machinery; Research on high voltage Multi-Level PWM inverter for motor control; Improvement on operating characteristics of linear induction motor; Research on control for induction motor by PWM converter/inverter system with intermediate chopper; Research on running characteristics of induction motors influenced by power source conditions.
Electronic Engineering
Research on analytical applications of lasers; Development of laser microprobe analysis system such as laser-induced breakdown spectrometry, laser ionization mass spectrometry, laser pyrolysis gas chromatography; Research on laser micro-manipulation and capturing device of the fingerprint image using laser; Research on ultra-high-speed opto-electronic devices for optical fiber transmission systems; Development of multiple quantum well structures for optical devices; Research on analysis of propagation and scattering of radio waves using FEM or FDFD method; Research on applications of computer techniques to electronic system and data processing; Development of 3-D pointing device and its application to 3-D manipulation; Numerical analysis of propagation and scattering of electro-magnetic wave using finite element method(FEM).
Electronics Applications
Research on applications of computer technique to system, especially for filter design and VLF waves embedded in noise; Study by simulation of the characteristics of atmospherics ions and aerosol particles.
Information Engineering
Research on information system, numerical computation and software engineering including digital signal processing, digital image processing, adaptive echo cancellation, speech recognition, pattern recognition, image restoration, image understanding, computer simulation of neural networks, and speech training systems for hearing impaired children.
Electronic Materials Science
Research on new materials and plasma electronics; Crystal growth of ZnSe and GaN by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition and optical and electrical characterization of epitaxial films; Electron energy distributions in EBEP (Electron Beam Excited Plasma) device; Development of large diameter plasma source by surface waves in the VHF band; Control of N2, CH4, O2, Cl2, processing plasmas by EBEP, and its application for heat mirror TiO2/TiN/TiO2, high efficient solar cell and opto-electronic devices.
