Structure of the History Course and Geography Course
History Course
The History Course is made up of a variety of courses in which research is carried out based on a broad study of history. In particular, considering this time of globalization, Japan’s position relative to the rest of the world is taken into account. Therefore, while incorporating extensive study of each period within Japanese history, ranging from ancient to modern, study in other regional history is also incorporated, such as European history and Asian history. Furthermore, area studies in the fields of history of thought, technology, art, etc., are available, emphasizing research in a broad historical sense, while centering on Japan.
Geography Course
The Geography Course is made up of a variety of courses in which research is carried out based on a broad study of geography. In particular, emphasis is given to the link between people and their communities, using tools of the Humanities and Social Sciences for analysis, with the goal of resolving problems at the local level. As a result, in addition to various fields of human geographical studies, including economy and industry, history and urban environments, study is also incorporated in the applied areas of geographic information, regional policy, urban policy, as well as environmental geography and topography. Human and social phenomena are the focus of research based in the human geographical studies.
