Chubu Institute for Advanced Studies
Collaborative research on a national scale
Chubu Institute for Advanced Studies was established in 1996 as the first 'University Collaborative Research Facility' belonging to a private university. The Institute actively seeks to place academic collaboration (shared research) at the forefront of its effort to address the many problems confronting society today.
Inside the university, the Institute plays a key role bringing together the individual research findings of various departments in order to produce collaborative research. The Institute also promotes collaboration outside our walls by conducting joint work with other universities and research bodies, welcoming visiting professors, and soliciting researchers' pooling of knowledge across interdisciplinary themes and fields. Already, "Asia" has been adopted as the Institute's inaugural project. As this first research project develops, the Institute is making full use of research bulletins and symposia to ensure that the fruits of the research can be widely enjoyed, both inside and outside the university.
