Health Science Hills
Pursuing new health sciences in the 21st century
The Chubu University project “Strategic Research on Prediction and Prevention of Living Environment Factor-Induced Diseases” was selected as a “Research for the Development of Research Base” of the 2008 MEXT “Strategic Research Base Development Project for Private Universities.” Health Science Hills functions as a base for this research project. The development of diseases that plague modern society (modern diseases) involves both internal physical factors (e.g. heredity, physical changes associated with aging) and external environmental factors (lifestyle factors such as eating, exercise and smoking; living environment factors such as temperature, chemical pollution, noise, ultraviolet rays, and inhaled air; and infections from microorganisms such as viruses). This project aims to develop an international research base to pursue cutting-edge research on the prediction, prevention and control of modern diseases, which is caused by a complicated interplay of internal and external factors.
