Research Collaboration Support Center
Responding to the need for understanding the actual conditions of companies and exploring possible solutions
Promoting the exploitation of the University's intellectual assets, as a bridge between industry, government and academia
Since enforcement of the Act on the Promotion of Technology Transfer from Universities to Private Business Operators, technology licensing organizations (TLOs) have gained increasing recognition. Chubu University established its TLO Promotion Office in 1998, and in 2002 the Office was expanded and strengthened into the Research Collaboration Support Center.
As a liaison office, the Center provides comprehensive research support services for companies and national/local governments, including consultation on joint and commissioned research. To ensure the best match between business needs and the university’s technology, the Center conducts detailed interviews and information collection to accurately identify each company’s problems and needs. The Center then selects the most suitable researcher from among over 500 faculty members and researchers at Chubu University, and introduces the selected researcher to the company. The Center also provides technical consulting as well as advice on patent acquisition. To facilitate problem sharing and collaboration between researchers and companies, the Center arranges visits to research laboratories by companies and vice versa.
