Chubu University Academy of Emerging SciencesDevelopments in Mathematical Methods e Chubu University Academy of Emerging Sciences (CUAES) was established in 2016 based on an agreement between then Chair Atsuo Iiyoshi and Chancellor Juichi Yamagiwa of Kyoto University, inviting Professor Shigefumi Mori, Distinguished Professor of Kyoto University (Fields Medal 1990) and other eminent researchers to Chubu University. Since then, led by Professor Ichiro Tsuda (Professor Emeritus at Chubu University, currently Specially Appointed Professor at Sapporo City University), CUAES has pursued cutting-edge research, especially in areas related to mathematical sciences. Chubu University Educational Corporation has adopted academic branding as a key initiative, actively promoting its unique and distinctive research strengths to the broader society. CUAES is one of the agships of this academic branding strategy. Mathematics and mathematical analysis methods are now indispensable not only in science and engineering, but also in life sciences and in humanities and social sciences. CUAES, together with the Center for Mathematical Science and Articial Intelligence, plays a leading role in advancing research and education in mathematical sciences and information sciences at Chubu University. In-house research activities focus on development and application of mathematical methods in diverse elds. Among the activity of CUAES, the "Emerging Science Seminar" series oers opportunities for faculty members and students to broaden their academic scope through lectures and discussions led by leading researchers from a wide range of disciplines. In addition, an omnibus-style lecture course, "Science and Technology, and Society," which is oered as part of the university-wide general education program, provides students with opportunities to engage with frontiers of academic knowledge in diverse elds.
