・ThenewPASEOPlacementTestworkingasdesigned,makingitmoredifficultforfreshmentotestintothehigherlevels.・Theadditionoffivenewcoursestothecurriculum.3CurriculumandProgramReviewSince2019theOPELTfacultyhaveconductedayearlycurriculumreview,whichlargelyfocusesontheskills-focusedcourses,ListeningandSpeaking(LS)andReadingandWriting(RW).Subsequenttothe2021review,thedocumentunderwentafewminorchangesandshufflingofleveldescriptors,butremainedlargelythesame.However,therewasadifferenceofopinionbetweenfacultyastothedocument'susefulnessinguidingteaching,andintheimplementationofextensivereadingintheRWclasses.Futurecurricularreviewshouldaimtoachievethefollowinggoals:・DefineandstandardizeSLOs(StudentLearningOutcomes)andobjectivesforeachlevelandcourse,includingnarrowingthescopeofSLOstorealisticallyachievablemeasurableoutcomesin15or30classes.・Modifyorrevisethecurrentcurriculumdocumenttomakeitmoreusefuloraccessibletoencouragebuy-infromallfaculty.・Considerthemeritsofconsolidatingthecurrentfivelevelsintothree.Thisitemwasdiscussedin2021butwasultimatelytabled.Fivenewcontentcourseswerelaunchedin2021.Allofthecoursesreceiveddecentreviewsincourseevaluationsandwillbecontinuedin2022.Thefivecoursesandtheircreatorsareasfollows:・PopCultureThroughEntertainment-OlgaSormaz・GrammarforWriting-KevinJambor・AllAbouttheUSA-ClayCampbell・CurrentIssues-RobCampbell・PresentationSkills-NoahRichInMarch2022,KevinJamborreworkedanoldContentcourse,AmazingStories,toreplaceWritingFundamentalsasaclasswhichcouldaccommodateverylowlevelstudents.StudentrepliestoaCenterforInternationalAffairs(CIA)surveyin2021indicatedthatthehurdletojoinanEnglish-onlyclasswasquitehigh,andthattherewasademandforaPASEO-style,communicativeclassroomexperiencethatallowedforsomefirstlanguagesupport.AmazingStorieswaspilotedinspring2022.Inordertohelpandencourageadoptionofextensivereadingacrosstheprogram,thedirectoralsoutilizedsomeoftheOPELTbudgettopurchasemoregradedreadersforteacherstouseintheirPASEOclasses.Regularteacher-teacheranddirectorobservationswerebeguninFall2021inordertoincreasesharing,communication,andtoimproveourteachingpractice.InMarch2022thedirectorcreatedanobservationformforprogramusetohopefully:・makeobservationsshorterandeasier,sowecanobserveLSandRWclasses.・promptmeaningfuldiscussionsbetweenfacultyonteachingpractice.・helpfacultyprovideeachotherclearactionablefeedbackonareasforimprovement.・beusednotasanevaluationorforaccountability.4Orientation,Registration,andPlacementSystemDuringFebruaryandMarchof2021,theOPELTfacultycollaboratedtodesign,write,record,andpilotanoriginalonlineplacementtest,thePASEOPlacementTest(PPT),whichwasthenimplementedtoplaceallincomingstudentsstartingwiththeSpring2021semester.Thefirsttwosemestersofplacementseemtoindicatethetestworksasdesigned,althoughitmayprovebeneficialtoadjusttheoriginalcutscores,whichwerederivedfromasmallsamplesizeofstudentsusedtopilotthetest,inordertohaveitbettermatchourlevels.Tocontinueimprovingthefollowingstepsareproposed:・simplifyingtheoverallsystem.5ProgramEventsTheprogram'slarge-scalespecialeventsremainedcancelledin2021becauseoftheongoingCOVID-19pandemic.However,inthefallsemester,AReportonPASEOClassesin2021―35―
