野外教室でひらく新しい学び―63―JournalofChubuUniversityEducationNo.25（2025）LearningBeyondtheClassroom:AnEarthScienceOutdoorProgramwithUniversity-wideParticipationKUDOTakeshi＊1＊1Professor,SchoolofGeneralEducation,ChubuUniversityAbstractThisstudyreportsonthepracticeofan"outdoorclassroom"implementedatChubuUniversity.Theprogramconsistedoffourcomponents:exhibitionvisitsattheFukuiPrefecturalDinosaurMuseum,hands-onfossilexcavation,geologicalobservationsalongtheKisoRiverinKagamigaharaCity（GifuPrefecture）,andfieldworkattheYoroFault.Participantswererecruitedfromacrossallfaculties,creatinganinterdisciplinarylearningenvironment.Analysisofquestionnairesandfreeresponsesrevealedthatstudentsdeepenedtheirunderstandingofthedynamicnatureofscientificknowledge,theprocessofresearch,thesenseofgeologicaltimescales,andtheconceptofEarth'sdynamismincludingearthquakes.Furthermore,theimpressiveexhibitsandtheexcitementofexcavationstimulatedstudents'motivationtolearn,whiletheirrequestsformorefreeexplorationandexperientialactivitiesindicatedthepromotionofautonomousandinquiry-basedlearning.Thisreporthighlightstheroleofexperientiallearninginliberalartseducationattheuniversitylevel,andsuggeststhepotentialofconnectingnaturalscienceswithbroadersocialissuesthroughoutdooreducation.KeywordsOutdoorclassroom,Experientiallearning,Liberalartseducation,Earthscienceeducation,Museum-basedlearning
