theprogram'shigherlevels,theOPELTfacultyrevisitedadiscussionaboutthefivelevelsandtheoptimalfitwiththeAcademicListeningandSpeaking（LS）andAcademicReadingandWriting（RW）coursecurricula.ThediscussionculminatedinthedecisiontorevisethePASEOprogram'slevelsfromfivetothree.Ultimately,thefacultyagreedthattheprogramdidnotloseanythingvitalbyhavingfewerlevels,butwouldgainseveralbenefits:betteropportunitiesforfacultytocollaboratewhenteachingatthesamelevel,moreconsistentplacementwithwidercutscorebandsontheprogram'sin-houseplacementtest,andanopportunitytorevisethescheduletooffersectionsattimesmorerequestedbystudentsandattimeswhichallowforfacultytoobserveeachotherandsubstitute,notpossiblepreviously.AfterreceivingapprovalfromtheSGEandAcademicAffairsOffice,thedirectorconductedananalysisoftheschedulesofallmajorsandyearstoidentifythemostopenperiodstoofferPASEOclassesandorganizedanewclassscheduletobetrialedinthe2023academicyear.4OrientationandRegistrationTheCIAcontinuedtoprovideessentialsupportinconductingPASEOorientationforthestudentsandfieldingstudentinquiriesabouttheregistrationprocess.Toaccommodatestudentswhochoosenottoattendorientationnorreadtherequirementsofclassesforwhichtheyregisterontheuniversity'sTora-Netsystem,PASEOoffersalateregistrationperiodduringthefirstweekofclassesthatcoincideswiththeuniversity'sregistrationclasschangeperiod.5ProgramEventsPASEOofferedtwoextra-curriculareventsin2022.TheEnaRetreatwasnotrevivedbecauseofcontinuingcomplicationswithpandemicpolicies,butinitsplacetwopartieswereheld,oneinthespringandoneinthefallsemester.OPELTinstructorsalsocontinuedtohosthour-longConversationRoomsessionsbi-monthlythroughouttheyear.6EnrollmentDataEnrollmentfor2022resembledpre-pandemicpatternsoflargernumbersinspringandlowernumbersinfallsemesters.Classsizeaverageswerehigheryear-over-year,9.2to12.7inspring2021andspring2022and8.5to8.6inthefallrespectively（seeTable1for2022averages）.Organizedbyschoolyear（Fig.1）,thedataindicatesthatthemajorityofPASEOstudentsarefreshmenandsophomores（79%）whoarelikelyaimingtofulfillgraduationrequirements.Successesindicatedbyenrollmentdata（Table1）include:・Reducingstudentscutfromahighof188in2019downto43in2022.・Reducingstudentswhodropaclassdownfromahighof190in2019to88in2022.・Reducingno-shows,studentswhoregisterbutneverattendclass,from51in2019to34in2022.Fig.2showsPASEO2022enrollmentbyuniversitydepartment.Fig.3and4showtheuniversityandPASEOgenderratiosfor2022.Fig.5showsPASEOenrollmentbysemesterfromspring2019tospring2023.Finally,Table2listsalltheprogramcourses,instructars,andclasssizes.JournalofChubuUniversityEducationNo.23（2023）―66―Table1PASEOEnrollmentSummary2022
