About the Department of Media Information Society

CURATOR×CREATOR Two courses for acquiring advanced skills

What is needed in today’s media society is the perspective to select valuable media information and the skills to effectively provide and disseminate it. We encounter an enormous amount of information on a daily basis through media such as SNS, video streaming sites, web advertisements, applications, etc. While this is convenient and enjoyable, it can sometimes pose unexpected dangers. In the Department of Media Information Society, students can hone their curation skills to discern the essence and value of information, expand their public interest to care for the well-being of the local community, and develop their creative skills to disseminate and communicate carefully vetted information.

In the Information Society Course, students acquire curation skills and other skills that are useful not only for librarians and curators, but also for use in media relations and in corporate society. In the Media Information Course, students acquire creative skills while gaining practical experience using cutting-edge technologies, such as VR, the metaverse, drones, etc.
