Department of Lifelong Sports and Health Sciences

About the Department of Lifelong Sports and Health Sciences

We provide education with emphasis on life and medical sciences.

The Department curriculum comprises medical education, common to all departments of the College of Life & Health Sciences, and health & sports education. In medical education courses, students learn the basics of healthcare, health and medical sciences, clinical medicine and emergency medicine. The health & sports education courses help students develop specialized knowledge and skills in lifelong sports or health promotion sports, so that they can provide appropriate instruction in lifelong sports or health promotion sports (swimming, aerobic exercise, jogging, recreation, etc.), which are beneficial for both physical and psychological health.

We train sports-based health specialists.

The Department of Lifelong Sports and Health Sciences aims to train sports-based health specialists who can prescribe, based on medical evidence, exercises that help prevent diseases and improve health, and coach safe and effective exercises, thereby contributing to the promotion of preventive medicine in local communities. The Department also offers courses to enable students to obtain eligibility to take an examination for the national qualification Emergency Medical Technician. (An emergency medical technician provides lifesaving care, under the instruction of a doctor, for an emergency patient in the ambulance while transporting him/her to a medical facility.)
