Department of Robotic Science and Technology
Training high-quality robotic engineers who can help achieve a society where people coexist with robots
About the Department of Robotic Science and Technology
Recently in modern society, robots such as cleaning and pet robots have been increasingly used in the home, not just in industrial applications. Robots are needed in extensive fields, ranging from support and assistance for the human body and medical treatment, to the space industry. In the near future, robots will emerge from being mere tools to becoming an integral part of human society. The Department of Robotic Science and Technology trains high quality robotic engineers capable of developing future-oriented technologies necessary for achieving a society where people live in harmony with robots. The curriculum helps students acquire (i) broad-based knowledge in physics, mechanics, electricity/electronics, and information science and (ii) in-depth knowledge about robots (including control and mechatronics) from the basics to practical applications. Based on this knowledge, educational and research programs are offered on new robotics (an interdisciplinary field).
