As part of the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the academic exchange between Ohio University and Chubu University, a delegation led by Chubu University President Yoshimi Takeuchi visited Ohio University from November 12th to 16th.
During the visit, events included a signing ceremony for the renewal of the academic exchange agreement, a cherry tree planting ceremony and groundbreaking ceremony for a new Friendship Park, viewing of an Ohio University football game (in which Chubu University’s official mascot, Chutora, participated), a lunch with faculty members who have visited Chubu University as visiting professors, tours of the mechanical engineering laboratory and facilities as well as community outreach facilities, a dinner with Chubu University graduates who are fellowship recipients studying at Ohio University’s graduate school, a conversation hour with Chubu University students studying at Ohio University, and an observation of a Japanese language class.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ohio University, and the visit was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the deep exchanges that have taken place in commemoration of the 50th anniversary. In May of next year, President Lori Stewart Gonzalez and a delegation from Ohio University are scheduled to visit Chubu University. The two universities are looking forward to the further development of their close relationship.
