Chubu University Welcomes Ohio University Associate Professer Joshua Hill as Kohei Miura Visiting Professor

Chubu University was pleased to welcome Dr. Joshua Hill as the 46th Kohei Miura Visiting Professor from Ohio University, USA, from May 14 to August 7, 2024. During his visit, Dr. Hill met with a variety of scholars on campus and interacted with researchers related to his areas of expertise: modern Chinese political thought, 19th- and 20th-century Chinese politics, and political culture.

During his three-month stay in Japan, Dr. Hill gave a lecture entitled “25 Years of Change in Mainland China (1999-2024) – An American’s Experience” at the 3rd International Salon, held by the College of International Studies, where he was hosted. In addition, he visited various places in Japan to collect materials and conduct field research. At the “D.I. Table” lunch exchange event hosted by Chubu University’s Center for International Affairs, Dr. Hill actively engaged with both Japanese and international students, introducing Ohio University and explaining American culture.

Dr. Hill’s visit helped to build new relationships between faculty, staff, and students of Chubu University and Ohio University. We hope that his stay will contribute to the further deepening of the long-standing relationship between our two universities.
