Promoting “education for sustainable development (ESD)” projects of Chubu University

International ESD/SDGs Center

At the second Earth Summit held in 2002 in Johannesburg, Japan proposed an ESD (education for sustainable development) plan. Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) to deliver ESD have been established worldwide since 2005. In October 2007, the RCE Chubu (Central Japan), a network including Chubu University and Nagoya University, was recognized by the United Nations and started its activities. The RCE Chubu promotes activities related to planning and supporting ESD projects and ESD-related survey and research projects.
