In addition to items collected from all over the world by researchers of the College of International Studies, items from the Silk Road culture area and the Latin America region have been newly added to the museum collection, bringing the total collection to about 3,000 items.  In addition to collection and research activities, the Museum is dedicated to displaying items from its collection through permanent and special exhibitions as well as to conducting lectures and workshops.

The Museum is divided into two major exhibit areas: the Silk Road Room and the Regional Research Area.  The Regional Research Area is further divided into six exhibit zones according to geographic regions of the world, each zone displaying exhibits featuring the daily lives and cultures of the relevant region.
