Center for Education in Laboratory Animal Research

The Center for Education in Laboratory Animal Research opened in April 2006 to integrate and manage all animal experiments conducted by the university. It is operated by the Director, one assistant professor, two educational technical assistants and four part-time technicians. The Center is dedicated to breeding rodents. It is a four-storied reinforced concrete building with a total floor space of 1926.49 m2, consisting of 20 mouse breeding rooms, three rat breeding rooms, five common-use laboratories, one embryo manipulation room, two P2A-compatible laboratories for viral infection experiments, two quarantine rooms, and a central cleaning room. High-performance HEPA filters are used for all the breeding rooms, enabling them to maintain a specific pathogen-free (SPF) environment, the highest level for a general animal breeding environment.
